Wasps full-back Andrea Masi is eager for the club to build on their impressive victory over Northampton when they take on Harlequins.
Wasps full-back Andrea Masi is eager for the club to build on their strong win over Northampton when they take on Harlequins this coming weekend.
Masi was part of the team that defeated the Saints 20-16 at Adams Park last Sunday and revealed the spirit has been sky high after the triumph.
“The mood is very good; everyone is very happy about the result at the weekend. Now the challenge is to repeat that kind of performance this Saturday against Quins. We have shown that we are capable of it now, so we have to reproduce that kind of display more regularly,” he told the club website.
Masi echoed the views of director of rugby Dai Young following the win that there is more to come from the Wasps squad against the top teams.
“The coaches have always told us that we have the ability to compete against the top sides in this league. They have had the faith in us from very early on and at the weekend we proved them right,” he said.
“That must be our standard now and we have to keep getting better. Dai has spoken a lot about the full performance, playing for the full 80 minutes and on Sunday we did that. That has to happen every week, which is by no means easy but we are ready for that.”
He added on the upcoming trip to the Stoop: “They [Harlequins] are a very good team. The result last weekend against Saracens will have hurt them and they will want to hit back against us.
“It is always a tough challenge going to The Stoop and this Saturday will be no different. We will give Quins the respect they deserve but, as always, the focus has got to be on us and playing the game we want to.”
