Tighthead prop Nicolas Mas has announced his retirement from Test rugby following France's exit from the World Cup.

Mas became France's most capped prop during the quarter-final loss, but the 35-year-old has now become the third French player to retire from Tests.

He follows Frédéric Michalak and Pascal Papé in stepping down from the international game after the tournament.

Mas won 85 caps for France, overtaking Sylvain Marconnet as France's most capped prop of all time.

He was part of the French team that reached the 2011 World Cup final, while he also won Six Nations titles in 2007 and 2010, the latter was also a Grand Slam.
