Southern Kings hooker Edgar Marutlulle will join the Blue Bulls for their Currie Cup Premier Division campaign, the Blue Bulls Company confirmed on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old will join the Pretoria-based union at the beginning of next month.
"Edgar has been one of the stand-out hookers this year and I am very pleased that he will be joining us," said Blue Bulls High Performance Manager, Xander Janse van Rensburg.
"With Adriaan Strauss on Bok duty in the next couple of months, it was important for us to add to our depth with a high quality hooker and Edgar is exactly that.
"We have Jaco Visagie and Bandise Maku in the squad and Edgar will add some healthy competition and depth."
Marutlulle was the starting hooker for the Kings in Super Rugby this year, having previously played for the Leopards, Golden Lions and Lions.
His solid performances saw him gain selection into the South Africa 'A' side that played the England Saxons in Bloemfontein and George last month.
Meanwhile, the Blue Bulls also announced the return to Loftus Versfeld of former Springbok Sevens, Junior Springboks and Blue Bulls age group flanker, Shaun Adendorff, at the end of the current season.
The 24-year-old is currently playing for Boland in the Currie Cup Qualifiers and helped the team confirm Premier Division status with a number of strong performances.
Adendorff played in Pretoria as a junior before opting to join the Blitzboks in Stellenbosch. He has now successfully returned to the 15-a-side game.
"These are exciting times for the Blue Bulls," added Janse van Rensburg.
"Shaun won the gold medal with the Junior Springboks, then made us proud playing for the Blitzboks and is currently playing great rugby for Boland.
"We are so pleased to welcome him back in the Bulls rraal at the end of the season."
