Argentina captain Agustin Creevy revealed that Diego Maradona told the Pumas he was dreaming of witnessing something special from them at the World Cup.
Footballing legend Maradona was watching the pool game against Tonga in Leicester as his countrymen won 45-16 in a five-try victory on Sunday.
And for hooker Creevy, knowing he was in the stands was a special moment while he also revealed that Maradona had met with the team afterwards.
"For me Maradona was always the best. The best player in history and it was a very nice surprise for him to take the time to meet us," he said.
"He gave us one of his T shirts and also gave a speech and said the whole of Argentina was dreaming with us. And that is why he was here. We danced and he was lots of fun and it was good for all of us in the squad. I could have never imagined that Maradona would be there with us.
"He said if we reach the semi-finals he will come again."
Creevy was not however in dreamland over their performance as he believes they left plenty of points on the field while their defence was poor.
"It was not a dream game. We should have scored a try on a couple of occasions. But we are learning all the time and today we will take the negative points away with us to improve and think about Namibia and then hopefully quarter-finals. Hopefully we don't make those errors again."
Meanwhile, Pumas head coach Daniel Hourcade reserved special praise for fly-half Nicolas Sanchez after his 25-point performance in Leicester.
"Nico is a great player. He's got a good boot and he did what he is supposed to do today so we are very happy," he said of his number ten.
