Manawatu claimed another Premiership scalp after beating Counties-Manukau 26-10 in Palmerston North on Sunday.

The Turbos – who also beat Wellington last weekend – had to work hard for the win and held a slender 6-3 lead tat half-time.

Manawatu fly-half Jade Te Rure gave the home sie a 6-0 lead via two early penalties before Michael Stanley responded with a three-pointer for Counties in the 25th minute.

The game came alive shortly after the restart when Jason Emery scored the opening try, after Te Rure did well in the build-up, and the Manawatu pivot gave his side a 20-3 lead when he scored a converted try shortly afterwards.

Counties narrowed the gap to 10 points after Onosa'i Auva'a scored their only try but Manawatu sealed the win with two late penalties from Otere Black.
