Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder has praised flanker Tom Wood for his contribution to the Saints' 2015/16 campaign.
Wood, who recently underwent neck surgery, had a leading role throughout Northampton's season especially during April and May when he played through the pain barrier to help Saints finish in fifth place on the table.
And Mallinder hailed the effort of the 29-year-old, who despite his heroics at club level is yet to play for England under head coach Eddie Jones.
“He’s had a cracking season,” Mallinder told the Northampton Chronicle and Echo.
“People talk about Woody in terms of being international class – is it disappointing for him not to be playing international rugby?
“I think, week in, week out, Tom has put in international standard performances.”
