Toulon tighthead Salesi Ma'afu is set to appear in court next month following an alleged altercation in a car park earlier this month.

The former Wallaby prop has been charged with 'violence with a weapon', the weapon being his car, and will appear on September 8 at Toulon's criminal court.

According to reports Ma'afu was involved in an argument over a parking spot on August 16, where he is believed to have hit a woman with his car, as well as a bystander who then tried to intervene, the prosecutor explained to AFP.

As a result, Ma'afu was taken into custody on Monday, and may well have to wait a while before playing again for the European champions, having made his debut off the bench on Friday night in the loss to Racing 92.
