Wales star James Hook and Stormers breakdown battler Deon Fourie have emerged as targets for newly-promoted Top 14 outfit, Lyon.
Hook, who can fulfill almost any position between fly-half and full-back, currently plies his trade with Perpignan. But unless USAP can do what no other side has managed for 76 games and beat Clermont at home this weekend, they look set to be relegated to the Pro D2 alongside Biarritz.
If Perpignan are to go down, their squad roster is likely to be cut dramatically, with Hook one of many big names expected to be heading for the exit door.
And the versatile back is, according to WalesOnline, being pursued by Lyon – who won promotion last weekend – as one of the few Top 14 clubs who have not filled their quota of foreign players.
28-year-old Hook has also been linked with Bristol, who are chasing promotion to the Premiership, and have laid down a marker with a number of big-name signings already, including former Wales teammates Ryan Jones and Dwayne Peel, and Ospreys starlet Matthew Morgan.
Die Burger report that Lyon are also chasing flanker-cum-hooker Fourie, with the player's agent Eduard Kelder confirming the French side's interest and also that Western Province Rugby Union is aware.
