Montpellier continued their revival with a 30-10 win over Lyon at Matmut Stadium on Wednesday, which lifts them up to eighth in the Top 14.

Despite naming an under-strength side, Montpol had come out of the traps firing in the first 40 and looked boosted by their fine win over Clermont.

Although it took them time to break the midweek deadlock, a try from number eight Alex Tulou on 23 minutes preceded three penalty goals from the in-form wing Martin Bustos-Moyano to send the visitors in 0-14 to the good at the half-time break.

Lyon, languishing at the foot of the Top 14 league standings, were clearly given a dressing down at the interval and soon had some points to show for their second-half efforts when Romain Loursac reduced the margin to 11 points three minutes into the resumption of the rearranged game.

The hosts needed to build on that comeback, but it was in fact Bustos-Moyano who added to his personal tally as two quick-fire penalties came before the hour. And when replacement Yoan Audrin took the wind out of Lyon's sails after they'd just scored seven points thanks to Tariel Ratianidze's try, the game was beyond Lyon.

Montpellier now go to eighth while Lyon stay bottom following Biarritz's win over Bayonne.
