Frans Ludeke has stepped down as Bulls coach after a disappointing Super Rugby campaign ended with defeat to the Cheetahs.

A 42-29 defeat capped an underwhelming season, where the Bulls finished ninth in the table, well short of their pre-season expectations.

As a result Ludeke has stepped down from his position as Super Rugby and Currie Cup head coach with immediate effect.

Nollis Marais will replace him as new head coach of the Blue Bulls for the 2015 Currie Cup season.

The Blue Bulls Company Board of Directors in a statement on Saturday 13 June 2015 confirmed a number of coaching changes to the Bulls and Blue Bulls structures with regards to the Currie Cup 2015 season and the Super Rugby season in 2016.

The Board of Directors indicated that Ludeke will step down from his position as Super Rugby and Currie Cup head coach with immediate effect. Discussions with Ludeke about his future is ongoing as well as the process to appoint a new head coach for Super Rugby 2016. An announcement will be made as soon as this has been finalised.
