The Golden Lions will wear their navy blue 125-year anniversary jersey when they face the Cheetahs this weekend.

The Golden Lions will once again wear their navy blue 125-year anniversary jersey for this weekend’s crunch Currie Cup match against the Free State Cheetahs at Ellis Park.

The jersey – which was first worn during the opening match of the domestic season against the Bulls -will also be available for purchase at the ground on Saturday.

The Golden Lions Rugby Union believes the rich history of the union and the ties it maintains to former players and members of its administration should be acknowledged.

One of the 125-year anniversary jerseys – framed and signed by the Golden Lions squad and management – can also be won by supporters in a raffle.

After Saturday’s match against the Cheetahs, the Lions jerseys will be signed and auctioned off, with all proceeds going to charities.
