The Lions have suffered a setback with the news that their hooker Robbie Coetzee will be sidelined for four months with a knee injury.

The news of Coetzee's injury was revealed via a Lions press statement which read: "Lions hooker Robbie Coetzee underwent a knee operation on Wednesday morning (30/3/16) to repair cartilage after a knock on the knee earlier in the season.

"He will be out of action for approximately four months."

Coetzee was the Lions' first-choice hooker for their season opener against the Sunwolves in Tokyo and also wore the number two jersey in their Round Three clash with the Highlanders.

The Lions take on the Crusaders in Johannesburg on Friday.
