Leinster have suffered a setback when it was revealed that their captain, Isa Nacewa, is set for a spell on the sidelines due to injury.
Nacewa missed last weekend’s win over Treviso with a knee injury and after seeing a specialist earlier this week he had surgery to fix the damage.
Leinster head coach Leo Cullen confirmed that the 34-year-old full-back will be out for a couple of weeks.
“We were fearing the worst but the damage is not as bad as we first feared,” he told The42.ie
“When a guy flares up at training, and you send them to see a specialist, you are always fearing the worst. But they were pretty happy that it was minor in the end.”
Although there is not an exact timeline on Nacewa’s return, Cullen is confident his captain will return to action long before Leinster’s Champions Cup quarter-final against Wasps in Dublin on April 1.
“He is a model professional, he keeps telling me he wants to play until he is 40,” he added.
“We are talking about a couple of weeks unless there is a set-back so there are no worries about his availability for the Champions Cup quarter-final date with Wasps.”
