Leicester Tigers second row forward Sebastian de Chaves has agreed a new contract to stay at Welford Road.

South Africa-born De Chaves, 24, arrived at Welford Road in 2013 and has made 33 appearances for the club, including 24 this season, as well as captaining the team for the first time during the LV= Cup during the current campaign.

Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: "Seb has had a really good season for us, developing as a player and also adding more responsibility to his game, which is important with Louis Deacon and Brad Thorn retiring this season and Geoff Parling moving on in the summer.

"He has a great attitude to his work and we're delighted he has agreed to stay and work with a very competitive pool of second rows as we look ahead to next season."

The second-row options at Tigers next season will include club captain Ed Slater, Graham Kitchener, De Chaves and new arrivals Mike Fitzgerald and Mike Williams.
