Leicester Tigers captain Tom Youngs said his team are determined to return to their winning ways when they face Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park on Sunday.

Youngs revealed that the Tigers players were annoyed with themselves after they suffered a 34-22 loss at home against Wasps.

The visitors were worthy winners against an out of sorts Leicester team and Youngs feels there is plenty of room for improvement against Newcastle who are heading in to this clash on the back of a 58-5 defeat suffered against Bath at the weekend.

“We are two games in and the annoyance in the changing room shows how far we want to go,” Youngs told the Leicester Mercury.

“There was a lack of energy and physicality and we didn’t turn up for 40 minutes.

“That is something we will talk about.”

Young feels the Tigers’ showing against Wasps was well below their usual standards and expects a better effort against the Falcons.

“It is frustrating when we talk about things all week but then don’t bring them to the fore,” he added.

“It is about us turning up and performing.

“We want to see energy and physicality, and then the performance will take care of itself.”
