Lawes voted Premiership player of the month

England and Northampton Saints lock Courtney Lawes has been named the Premiership Rugby Player of the Month for September.

Lawes, a 58 Test veteran, has been in excellent form over the past month. His club Northampton Saints have bounced back from a poor season start to win four games in a row.

“Lawes has been unbelievable for Northampton Saints this season,” former England centre Will Greenwood told englandrugby.com.

“His ball-carrying has improved exponentially, he has great footwork and softer hands.

“He might well be England’s most improved player, and is certainly critical to Northampton playing well.”

The 28-year-old managed to outshine other top performers like Newcastle Falcons’ Juan Pablo Soncino and Northampton Saints team-mate Tom Collins.

Lawes took home the trophy and was given a £250 donation to the charity of his choice.
