England defence coach Paul Gustard has given Courtney Lawes the all-clear to take on South Africa at Twickenham this Saturday.
With George Kruis and Maro Itoje injured, Eddie Jones' side are low on lock stocks ahead of their November opener against the Springboks.
But in an update from Gustard on Monday, he revealed that both Lawes and loosehead prop Mako Vunipola are fit and ready for Test action.
"Courtney Lawes has taken part in training as has Mako. We are in a good state of health and ready to continue our preparations ahead of Saturday’s game," he said before looking ahead to the challenge of facing a South African side that has had a difficult year on the field.
"I need to prepare the players for what's most likely and also need to prepare them for what's more probable. But the idea is also that we coach and prepare the team to be adaptable on the pitch," he added, with England taking on Fiji, Argentina and Australia after the Springboks.
