Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham will not use first choice fly-half Matt Toomua at inside centre, despite the player's fine form in that role for the Wallabies.
Toomua shone in the number 12 jersey for Australia on the 2013 end-of-year tour, cementing his spot in the side in just four matches after regular Wallabies inside centre Christian Lealiifano was injured.
Larkham will be tempted to use Toomua as his playmaker at inside centre as the tournament progresses. especially as Lealiifano is equally at home in the number 10 jersey.
With Toomua injured in 2012, former Brumbies coach Jake White used Lealiifano at fly-half and he was named man-of-the-match in eight of the 10 matches he played that season.
But Larkham has no plans to break up the combination that played a significant role in helping the Brumbies to a runners-up spot in 2013, especially with Lealiifano sidelined for the first three to five matches of the tournament due to an ankle injury.
''It worked really well for us last year, having that combination of Matty at 10 and Christian at 12,'' Larkham told Rugby Heaven.
The Brumbies' first match of the season is on February 22 against the Reds in Canberra.
