Stormers livewire full-back Cheslin Kolbe is ready to absorb as much as he can when he links up with the Springboks next month.
Kolbe has been named as part of a national training group who will assemble in Cape Town at the end of May.
Winning fans over with his dangerous breaks and bravery in attack and defence despite being just over 171cm, Kolbe can't wait to get started with the national side.
“I’m delighted with the news. It’s definitely a dream come true to be part of the national set-up,” Kolbe told MyPlayers.co.za.
“I hope to make the most of the opportunity by taking in and learning as much as I can.
“I’ll find myself in a new environment, so I will need to find my feet as soon as possible and listen to the advice I receive from the coaches and players around me.”
Kolbe hopes to adapt as quickly to international rugby as he has at Super Rugby level in order to become a key figure for the Boks should an opportunity come his way.
“Super Rugby is a big challenge week in and week out, but with time, I learned what was needed to make an impact,” added Kolbe.
“International rugby will be another step up, but with time and experience, hopefully I can prove myself on the international stage.
“I know there’s less space, less time on the ball and more pressure, but if I can adapt and focus on my strengths, I’m sure I can make a valuable contribution.”
