Knee concern for Vunipola

Date published: December 24 2016

England prop Mako Vunipola is a doubt for the Six Nations as he is set to see a specialist in the coming weeks to assess the damage to his knee.

The 25-year-old loosehead suffered the injury while playing for Saracens against Sale last week. He’s waiting for the swelling to subside.

According to Press Association Sport, the Premiership and European champions believe he could be sidelined from between four and 12 weeks, which makes him a major doubt for England’s opening Six Nations Championship showdown with France at Twickenham on Saturday, February 4.

After’s Christmas Eve’s clash with Newcastle Falcons, Saracens will face Leicester Tigers and then Exeter Chiefs in the Premiership before concluding their Champions Cup pool campaign against the Scarlets and Toulon, a group they currently lead by eight points after four wins.
