Promising Stormers front-row Steven Kitshoff will leave the Cape Town-based franchise to join Bordeaux-Begles.

According to Netwerk24, Kitshoff’s agent, Hilton Houghton, has confirmed that the 22-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Top 14 club.

He is still contracted to Western Province until the end of October and is set to depart for France after this year’s Currie Cuyp tournament.

Kitshoff was a member of South Africa’s U20 team that won the 2012 IRB Junior World Championship in Cape Town. He has represented the Stormers in 45 matches and also played 32 times for WP but was sidelined since May 2014 with a knee injury.

He has recovered, however, and played in two of the Stormers’ pre-season matches against the South Western District Eagles and the Cheetahs.
