Kings head coach Deon Davids has revealed that several of his players are battling injury ahead of Saturday's derby with the Lions in Port Elizabeth.

Davids confirmed that both hooker Edgar Marutlulle and prop Sti Sithole would not be available for selection for that match.

Marutlulle injured a knee, while Sithole was struggling with an elbow injury.

Davids confirmed that both starting locks, captain Steven Sykes and JC Astle, who had sustained light concussions during the game against the Bulls, were still being evaluated and a call would be made around their availability on Saturday.

“Both are still being evaluated in line with the head injury protocols by our medical team,” he told the Kings' official website.

Davids said he was hopeful that both would be available.

“On the positive side, Thembelani Boli has been cleared and Shane Gates is back at centre,” he added.
