Scarlets centre Scott Williams hailed midfield partner Regan King as “world class” as he looks forward to their combination this term.
Scarlets centre Scott Williams praised midfield partner Regan King as “world class” as he looks forward to a new combination this PRO12 campaign.
Williams has the veteran outside him this year following the departure of Jonathan Davies, as King arrives from Davies' new team, Clermont.
King, now 33, returns to the Scarlets after a strong spell in the Top 14, with the region starting the season on home soil on Saturday against Ulster.
“Regan is world class and playing with him is really good. Hopefully he'll be able to put me away for a couple of tries this season,” Williams told BBC Sport of the experienced outside centre.
“His experience… what he brings is huge and I'm sure the younger boys are learning a lot off him.
“Hopefully I'll learn a couple of things off him as well.”
Along with being excited to play alongside King, Wales international Williams is himself eager to get onto the field after surgery on a shoulder injury that hampered his 2013/14.
“I'm quite excited to be honest… the hard work in pre-season that everyone has put in since June has been… showing on the field,” Williams said.
“Before the [pre-season] Bath game I was just dying to play, because all I've been doing since February is training.
“I'll probably need a couple more games to get the timing and everything right, but those things will come, but [I'm] definitely feeling fit.”
