Jordie dilemma for All Blacks

It seems there's a dilemma in New Zealand over whether Jordie Barrett should play in the U20 World Championship or against the Lions.

The 20-year-old, who has been in sparkling form for the Hurricanes in Super Rugby this season, is eligible for the tournament in Georgia.

However according to Hurricanes assistant coach Jason Holland, the starlet could remain in New Zealand when the Lions arrive in June.

"The understanding was that Jordie's waiting for a bit of information as to whether he is allowed to go [to Georgia]," Holland told Newshub.

"But as far as we know, he plays this weekend and we'll hear updates on that going forward."

The versatile Barrett has been playing at full-back for the 'Canes this year and according to Holland, is a contender for the All Blacks.

"He is definitely put himself right in the hunt. It depends on what the [New Zealand coaching team] want to do but I think he is capable of being [an All Black] right now," he added.
