Japan head coach Eddie Jones has dismissed speculation linking him with the soon-to-be vacant head coaching role at the Stormers.
Jones has been touted as a replacement for Allister Coetzee, whose departure was confirmed on Wednesday.
However for the former Wallabies boss laughed off the report, which said that he had been in Cape Town for discussions, by revealing that he had been in Tokyo the whole time.
“I don’t know where that came from,” Jones told Fairfax Media.
“I read one of the reports that I was in Cape Town last week… I was in Tokyo.
“Tokyo is a long way from Cape Town, I can tell you mate.”
Jones added that he hadn’t had any contact with the Western Province union, while no decision has been made on whether he will leave his role with Japan or possibly coach the new Japanese side in Super Rugby.
“I haven’t had any contact. The only thing I am concentrating on is taking Japan to the World Cup in 2015,” added Jones.
“We are having a few discussions at the moment, so we will see where it goes.”
