Bristol-bound forward Ryan Jones has left the Ospreys early in order to play for his new club in the Championship playoffs.

The 33-year-old Wales and Lions forward is available for Bristol after the Ospreys failed to make the playoffs.

Bristol face Rotherham in the first leg of the Championship semi-final this weekend.

Jones signed a two-year deal with the rising English club back in March, linking up with his former Ospreys boss Sean Holley.

Should they succeed they will face either Leeds or London Welsh in the final, with the winner being promoted to the Aviva Premiership for next season.

Bristol have made a number of high-profile signings, including Jack Lam, Dwayne Peel, Anthony Perenise, Ross Rennie and Jones.
