The Lions suffered a setback when it was revealed that fly-half Elton Jantjies will undergo surgery on a fractured left wrist on Tuesday.

Jantjies sustained the injury during the Lions' clash with the Cheetahs in Johannesburg on Saturday.

It is still uncertain how long the Lions will be without the services of the Springbok pivot but they have a bye this week before taking on the Crusaders in Johannesburg next weekend.

The Lions have also confirmed that Jaco Kriel is on Day 2 of the GRTP programme (Start Graduated Return to Play) after he sustained a concussion injury against the Cheetahs.
