Janse van Rensburg to play for Barbarians

Lions centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg has apparently been extended an invitation to play for the Barbarians at Wembley Stadium in November.

According to South African newspaper City Press, the Lions stalwart could take part in the Baa-baas Test against the Springboks where he could personally advocate for national selection.

Janse van Rensburg has impressed all year in the Lions jersey with his break-out season in Super Rugby to various scintillating performances in the Currie Cup.

However, the 22-year-old might have already been called upon by the Boks considering that the Barbarians match does not fall within the Test window.

This means the likes of fellow Springbok centre contender Lionel Mapoe might have Japanese club commitments which will open the door for Janse van Rensburg.

Other South Africans, who received invitations to play for the Barbarians, pending allowance from their clubs are Lions hooker Armand van der Merwe and Stormers fly-half Jean-Luc du Plessis.
