Clermont fly-half Brock James will miss the start of the Top 14 season as he requires surgery on a cardiac anomaly.

The Australian will undergo minor surgery in the coming days and is expected to be out of action for about two months as a result.

He should be able to return to non-contact training in the days following the operation but he will miss at least the first month of action in the Top 14.

James was part of the Clermont team that reached the Champions Cup and Top 14 finals last season.
