Bath head coach Mike Ford agrees with the red card shown to Anthony Watson, for his 49th minute aerial challenge on Alex Goode, in their 30-10 loss to Saracens on Friday.

The Rec side are currently in ninth position on the Premiership table, three points adrift from eighth placed Gloucester.

Ford has pointed out that even though Watson was in the wrong place at the wrong time he got under Goode and as a result the Saracens full-back was brought to ground illegally.

"By the letter of the law, it is a sending off, isn't it? He (Watson) got underneath Alex, and Alex landed awkwardly," Ford said.

"You get underneath the guy jumping, take his legs away and he lands awkwardly like he did, it's a red."

Ford confirmed that Watson has remorse for the incident and assures that Bath will be supportive of the player with whatever transpires over the next couple of weeks.

"Anthony is gutted. He was going for the ball, Ashton checked his run, and then all of a sudden he is underneath the player. It was an accident," he added.

"We will have a look at it. We will fight his corner."
