In a surprising move, Italy international centre Gonzalo García has signed for Fédérale 2 club Cahors.
García was considered by many to be Italy’s best player in a tough 2016 Six Nations campaign, with his name cropping up when it came to picking the team of the tournament.
However the 32-year-old’s international future may be in doubt after finalising a move to join a club in France’s fourth division, beneath Fédérale 1, the Pro D2 and Top 14.
Argentina-born García has won 44 caps for Italy since making his debut against South Africa back in 2008.
He previously spent his entire club career in Italy, playing for Calvisano, Treviso and for the last four years with Zebre.
