Italy will be without centre Michele Campagnaro for the remainder of the Six Nations after he suffered a knee ligament injury.
The Treviso three-quarter is expected to be out for a month and a half, effectively ending his Championship after starting the 26-3 defeat to Ireland on Saturday.
Campagnaro tore the medial ligament in his left knee during the loss.
Meanwhile veteran back row Alessandro Zanni will also be missing for next week's trip to England.
Zanni suffered a partial tear of his ACL, although it is not yet clear how long he will be out for.
Italy have never beaten England and their last Six Nations win dates back to the final game of the 2013 edition of the competition.
