Australia captain Stephen Moore was lost for words after his team fell 42-8 in their opening Rugby Championship game against New Zealand.

The Wallabies, who lost Matt Giteau, Matt Toomua and Rob Horne to injury early in the match, were comprehensively beaten by the All Blacks.

And following the defeat it was clear that hooker Moore was struggling to find positives as his team fly to Wellington looking for a response.

“I don’t know what to say. I feel for all our fans who came out tonight. It just wasn’t good enough from us,” he told Fox Sports in Sydney.

“I thought we clawed back in there in the second-half but it was too big a lead.”

He added: “We prepared well and trained really hard in the last three weeks. We thought we were ready to play well tonight but we need to look at all that.

“We’ve got another game next week so we’ve got to keep pushing and try and turn things around.”
