Akira and Rieko Ioane are due back with the Blues this week after starring roles in the Sevens World Series wth New Zealand.
The two young talents are in contention to be part of the Blues' final pre-season friendly against the Chiefs next week prior to the start of the season.
Akira, 20, and Rieko, 18, appear set for breakout years in Super Rugby with the Auckland franchise although the coaching staff will be keen to not push them too hard in terms of their fitness.
"I'm sure Titch [Sir Gordon Tiejens] has had them running around pretty hard so we have to get them in and assess what shape they're in," Blues assistant coach Alistair Rogers told Stuff.
"You come back into Super Rugby and the training load is quite high, it's pretty demanding. So with those young athletes we have to make sure we do things right by them.
"It's a great position to be in isn't it, and what a challenge to have," he added.
"They're young, which is exciting; they're coachable and they want to learn, they possess all the things you look for in athletes."
