Injury concerns for Worcester

Worcester are sweating over the fitness of Bryce Heem, Francois Hougaard and Dewald Potgieter, who all have injuries going into this season.

The trio join experienced full-back Chris Pennell on the sidelines, as the England international was recently ruled out with a neck issue.

Now in a further setback, Bok flyer Francois Hougaard has a knee injury which he sustained whilst on Olympic 7s duty for South Africa.

Meanwhile wing Bryce Heem is on crutches, according to Worcester News, after suffering an injury at the club's training camp in Tignes.

"Bryce picked up something in the pre-season camp but we hope that is something which will be resolved over the next week or so," head coach Carl Hogg told the local publication. "He has had a scan and hopefully we will get him back in the next 10 days or so.

"Tom (Biggs) has a calf injury and it's something we are looking to manage."

Worcester though are set to be without flank Dewald Potgieter for the first three months of the season, as he had surgery on his thigh.

"It will be four more weeks before I start running again and the final stint of four weeks to return to full training and games," said the back-row.
