Waratahs star full-back Israel Folau insists the squad are not getting ahead of themselves despite two impressive opening wins.

Having thrashed the Reds 32-5 on Saturday the Tahs now have a handy lead at the top of the Australian Conference going into their bye week, having scored 75 points in the first two games.

The Sydney-based franchise watched the Brumbies reach the Super Rugby Final last year but 2014 could be their turn for success.

Folau however, who has scored five tries in the two victories, is refusing to look too far ahead, despite praising the new unity and depth in the squad.

''We are lucky to have good depth in our team,” Folau told the Sydney Morning Herald.

''We can chop and change different players in different positions. We have a lot of great players who haven't had a game this year – that's a good challenge, wanting to train and to make the XV every time.'

''As a team we are pretty confident obviously. We know what we can achieve. We worked really hard in the off-season… we have become a lot tighter.

''We enjoyed the win [over the Reds], but we can't get too carried away. It's only two games into the season. We have to take one week at a time.

“I'm starting to get the feel now in the games and just following the ball around.

''It's off the back of a great team performance. Our defence on the weekend really set the platform, which rolled straight into attack.''
