‘I wasn’t sure I would lead England again’ – Robshaw

England flanker Chris Robshaw admitted that he was unsure if he would ever captain his country again after their early exit at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Robshaw was named as co-captain – alongside George Ford – for England’s clash with the Barbarians at Twickenham on Sunday.

The 30-year-old was replaced as captain by hooker Dylan Hartley when Eddie Jones took over as England head coach after the World Cup.

When asked whether he was uncertain whether he would lead his country again Robshaw told Press Association Sport: “Yeah, I wasn’t really sure, but I can tell you I’m looking forward to doing it now.

“There’s a huge amount of potential in this young side, and it’s the perfect preparation for us to go over to Argentina.

“The World Cup was a long time ago now, and as soon as Eddie asked myself and George we were both looking forward to it.

“It’s a new challenge for us both, and we’re excited and looking forward to Sunday.”
