Former England fly-half Charlie Hodgson won the praise of his head coach Mark McCall after conducting Saracens 39-0 win on Friday.

Hodgson scored 22 points in the clash at The Stoop, while also picking up his first ever yellow card in his 219th Premiership match.

The 33-year-old charged down Nick Evans for the game's first try before ticking the scoreboard over throughout.

Saracens were brutal in their dismantling of Harlequins on their home turf, leaving their hosts without a point.

“We were pretty relentless out there and because of that we were able to build a lot of pressure,” said McCall.

“We weren't expecting a scoreline like that, but we wanted a performance full of energy and we got that.

“Charlie was one of several people who played really well and he'll be the first to say the pack gave him a great platform.

“Charlie pulled the strings beautifully and that was his first yellow card, but we'll excuse him that.”
