The Highlanders have brought in former New Zealand prop Clarke Dermody as a full-time scrum and assistant forwards coach.
The Highlanders have named former London Irish and New Zealand prop Clarke Dermody as their new full-time scrum and assistant forwards coach.
Dermody, 34, will be charged with solidifying the franchise’s scrum in 2015 and earns a contract after having a part-time role with them last year.
“I am confident with Clarke’s appointment, and the recruitment of extra stocks in the front-row, we can significantly improve our scrum over the coming months,” Jamie Joseph told The Southland Times.
Dermody, who was born in Invercargill, played for Southland from 2000 to 2007 before moving to London Irish in the Premiership until 2012.
