Healy out for four to five months

Leinster and Ireland loosehead prop Cian Healy faces a race against time to play in the Six Nations after picking up a hamstring injury.

The prop went down in training on Wednesday, and Leinster coach Matt O’Connor revealed on Friday that he has gone under the knife and will miss four to five months.

That means that he will miss the whole pool stages of Leinster’s European campaign, as well as Ireland’s November Tests.

O’Connor though had better news on the injuries concerning prop Jack McGrath and back-row Sean O’Brien, saying that McGrath’s calf issue was “very, very minor” while O’Brien was “not too far away” from a return to Leinster colours.
