England captain Dylan Hartley is on the verge of a playing return after nearly two months out with concussion.
Hartley hasn't played since England clinched the Grand Slam title in Paris back in March, when he was stretchered off the field after a serious head clash.
The Northampton hooker returned to lift the trophy but has since been gradually recovering from his head knock.
However the 30-year-old has now come through a full week of training and could be in contention for a spot in Northampton's matchday 23 against Gloucester this weekend.
“He has done a full week and has been going through the return-to-play protocols,” Northampton coach Alan Dickens told the Press Association.
“He’s bouncing around the place and back to his usual self.”
England head coach Eddie Jones will be hoping his captain comes through unscathed ahead of the side's tour to Australia in June.
