Northampton skipper Dylan Hartley is confident the Aviva Premiership champions can use the prospect of a RWC to their benefit in 2014/15.
Northampton skipper Dylan Hartley is confident the Premiership champions can use the prospect of a Rugby World Cup year to their benefit in 2014/15.
Saints, who have eight players in coach Stuart Lancaster's squad, are looking to defend their title when the new campaign kicks off next weekend.
And hooker Hartley believes that despite their international commitments, Northampton can use this to their advantage as players look to impress.
“We have a lot of internationals and a lot of boys pressing their cases,” England international Hartley explained to BBC Radio Northampton.
“That can only be good for Saints. We want to play well here first and then get that recognition from England.”
He added: “The general rule is you've got to be playing well for your club.
“If you play well here the team performs and it elevates everyone's position.”
