Clermont back Zac Guildford is facing three to four weeks out after being violently attacked late on Saturday night.

La Montagne report that Guildford was unexpectedly set upon by a trio when the assault occurred, after going to get a kebab with Wales centre Jonathan Davies.

The pair had been out with the rest of the Clermont squad to celebrate the birth of Camille Lopez's son and lock Jamie Cudmore's birthday, following their convincing 32-6 win over Racing Métro.

Following the 'violent' kick to the face, Guildford will be out for three to four weeks after suffering a trauma to his jaw.

Unbelievably the attack comes a month after Benjamin Kayser, Julien Pierre and Aurélien Rougerie were involved in a similar incident during pre-season in Millau.

“In this incident, he is the victim,” said Clermont's Jean-Marc Lhermet.

“There has been absolutely no reason to reproach him since his arrival. His integration is going well.”
