Western Province received a timely boost when scrum-half Nic Groom was declared fit ahead of Friday's clash with the Pumas in Nelspruit.

Groom will come into consideration for the match after missing the past two weeks with a shoulder injury.

WP currently lie in first position on the Currie Cup table, with 29 points from seven games (six victories). The Pumas are in fourth spot on 19 points (four wins from seven games).

Hooker Stephan Coetzee is making good progress from an ankle/hip pointer injury and will undergo a fitness test before the team is announced on Tuesday.

WP coach Allister Coetzee is delighted with the duo's progress.

“It's a big positive to have a clean bill of health,” he told WP's official website.

“Nic is back for us and Stephan will undergo a fitness test (tomorrow), but it's nice, in a short week like this one, to have minimal injuries.”
