Grant plans to unleash Force backs

New marquee signing Peter Grant knows his role in Perth after joining the Western Force on a two-year deal.

The former Springbok, who won five caps between 2007 and 2008, has landed in Australia after a year out of Super Rugby spent in France with La Rochelle.

Grant, 31, made over 100 Super Rugby appearances for the Stormers during an eight-year spell and naturally has plenty of experience to offer.

Now bedding into life with the Force, Grant hopes he can get the best out of the side's backs.

"I’ve got to fit in with that program and that style of play, which I’m excited about because I love attacking, flowing kind of rugby," Grant told the ARU website.

"I’m not the quickest man on the park but I’ll hopefully move the ball around quick enough to the speedy guys."

Grant also knows that he will be a key leadership figure as the Force strive to improve on 2015's disastrous campaign.

"That was part of the plan," he said.

"Foles wanted me to come in and provide a little bit more experience. (We’ve) got a lot of exciting young players in the back line especially.

"Hopefully I can provide a little bit of experience and rub off a bit on the younger boys."
