Reds boss Richard Graham says his squad will travel to South Africa in high spirits after their 43-33 high-scoring win over the Cheetahs.

The hosts ran in five tries at Suncorp Stadium to outscore their visitors in a wild encounter with Chris Feauia-Sautia grabbing a brace.

It means the Brisbane-based side now move momentarily above the Waratahs, who have a bye this week, courtesy the bonus-point win.

“We're heading on our two-week tour of South Africa with two wins out of our opening three games and a bonus point from this match, so that's a good result for us,” said Graham.

“We'll review this game and see what aspects we need to address.

“I felt we improved in a number of areas and look forward to our two weeks in South Africa.”

The win also saw Australia fly-half Quade Cooper break Elton Flatley's points record for Queensland in the process, with Cooper scoring 18 points in the match.

“I couldn't be more excited about being in the history books for something like that for Queensland,” said Cooper.

“I've spoken about my love and passion for Queensland and to be in the history books as Queensland's highest points scorer in Super Rugby, I'm very proud of that.”
