Leinster squeaked past Treviso with a 10-0 victory in Dublin, with the Italian scrum-half Edoardo Gori shown a late red card.
Leinster headed into the encounter seeking to snap a run of three successive defeats, while Treviso had won just once in their last six.
Conditions were tough and a high-scoring encounter was not expected, but it took just nine minutes for the game's first try to be scored.
Jamie Heaslip dummied and jinked his way over the line after collecting the ball from the base of the scrum to give the hosts the perfect start.
Ian Madigan added the extras and Leinster went in search of a second score, but the conditions and a stubborn Treviso defence stifled them.
Madigan was wide of the uprights with a penalty attempt just shy of half-time, preserving a sniff for the visitors, who'd acquitted themselves reasonably well in the first period.
Leinster continued to press in search of another score, but they continued to be held at bay.
The biggest cheer of the night came when Gordon D'Arcy was introduced from the bench for his final home game.
And the game eventually sprung back to life four minutes from the end, when Leinster's Sean O'Brien and Treviso's Francesco Minto were shown yellow cards and the visitors' Edoardo Gori was dismissed following a feisty coming together in the middle of the park.
The incident laid the platform for Jimmy Gopperth to strike over a penalty and settle the contest for the hosts.
