Glasgow Warriors' winless record in the Magners League continued as they scraped a last-gasp 16-16 draw with the Dragons.

It could have been worse for the Scottish side had Duncan Weir not managed to covert Alastair Muldowney's last minute try to rescue a 16-16 stalemate at Fir Hill.

Muldowney's final minute intervention prevented the Dragons from winning their fourth successive Magners League game and in the process halted their march up the table.

Despite a disappointing first half, substitute fly-half Jason Tovey looked to have inspired victory for the Welsh team helping to open up a seven point lead, but Glasgow had other ideas.

19-year-old pivot Duncan Weir showed impressive maturity to kick the decisive conversion which enabled them to snatch a perhaps underserved share of the spoils.

The Dragons controlled a dreary opening period, and they opened up a 6-0 lead through fly-half Matthew Jones. However, the home side could have gone in level as their fly-half was off target with the boot twice in the first half.

But Weir made amends for his earlier misses firstly reducing the deficit in the 48th minute, before bringing Glasgow back level not long after with another three points.

It wasn't to last as on 62 minutes, Newport scored the potentially game-defining try when blindside flanker Andrew Combs powered over, substitute stand-off Tovey converting.

Weir kicked his third penalty of the match to bring the score to within four points with just a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, but Tovey added another Dragons penalty to ease the nerves.

With two minutes to go, Newport prop Ben Castle was sin-binned and that gave Glasgow the impetus they needed, as in dramatic fashion they scored a try through Muldowney, and Weir held his nerve to snatch a valuable draw.
