Giteau to go under the knife

Australia international Matt Giteau will have surgery next Monda, in an attempt to remedy a groin injury he has been grappling with for some time.

Giteau confirmed the injury via his Twitter feed on Wednesday but there is still no confirmation on how long he will be sidelined.

"Op on Monday.. Not great news but looking forward to finally getting this groin fixed so I can be 100 percent for @RCTofficial," read the tweet by Giteau.

The injury obviously has an impact on his Champions Cup campaign with Toulon, who are in a rather precarious position in Pool 5. The Australian would have been an asset ahead of the match against Wasps on Sunday.
