Gilchrist suffers more injury woe
Edinburgh and Scotland second row Grant Gilchrist will be out until the end of the season after undergoing surgery on a broken arm.
Gilchrist required further surgery for the broken forearm he sustained in October's European Cup fixture against Lyon, having struggled to recover from the injury.
Gilchrist suffered a delayed healing response and the decision for revision surgery was taken after consultation with upper limb specialist Mr Doug Campbell at Spire Hospital Leeds.
Following a period of rest, Gilchrist will continue his rehabilitation under the care of the Edinburgh Rugby and Scotland medical teams.
It's a huge blow for Gilchrist, who had been named as Scotland captain ahead of the November internationals, only for the injury to rule him out.
He now faces a battle to prove his fitness ahead of the World Cup.
